Delaware Close To Legalizing Medical Marijuana

On Thursday the Delaware House passed SB 17 by a vote of 27 to 14. The bill would allow chronically ill patients to use medical cannabis with a doctor’s recommendation and set up three non-profit compassion centers where patients can procure their medicine.

The bill now goes back to the Senate for approval on the House amendments, then to the desk of Governor Jack Markell, who has indicated he will sign it. This would make Delaware the 16th state to legalize medical marijuana.

Opponents of medical cannabis try very hard to make it seem like a controversial issue, but look at a poll on the issue in any state; it is clearly not controversial. Politicians go out of their way to create controversy while avoiding issues that actually need to be debated.

Hopefully relief will be coming soon to patients in Delaware. If you live in DE, make sure your State Senators and Governor know you support SB 17.
