Pro-marijuana rally slated for Saturday

Cannabis Education and Decriminalization, a midstate advocacy group, is sponsoring a rally from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Capitol Complex’s Veterans Fountain. The event is held in conjunction with the Global Marijuana March.

“Definitely legalize medical marijuana,” said the group’s executive officer, Libby Belgrave. “We also have to remember that some adults choose to smoke marijuana. Some people smoke it for recreation purposes. It’s a medical need and a social thing as well.”

Speakers likely will discuss a bill supporting medical marijuana introduced before the state Senate last month.

Attendees are welcome to provide music or other entertainment, Belgrave said.

“It’s whoever wants to come and relax,” she added.
